Community Tasting Notes 6

September 26, 2022 - At Cannon Beach. Opaque garnet. Nose of dense, potent ripe red plum, earth, cassis, currant, and a bit of piney greenery. Layers of beautifully ripe, substantial, and focused red and blue plum fruit bolstered by dense earth and anchoring sinewy green streaks. Lovely acidity and softened tannin. Long finish of currant and warm earth. Upward trajectory even at the last sip. Did not expect this in view of previous notes, but this 32 year-old Merlot is fantastic. Such sweet gravity.

September 24, 2016 - Drank blind with friends. It was acceptable for a 25yr old wine that was kept in marginal conditions. My friends seemed to like it blind. They thought it was only 10-12 yrs old.

September 24, 2016 - One of two 1990s was still okay. This bottle was too old.

November 28, 2015 - Tasted blind last nite at a friend's tasting party.
A wine that was obviously 20+ years old, based on the med brick red core and brown tawny rim.
Nose was very complex, with all sorts of tertiary components including wet soil, mushrooms, old leather, prunes, and cassis.
Flavors were both complex and well balanced, with a med bodied wine, fully resolved tannins, nearing the end of it's life, but still quite enjoyable.
Drink now if you still have any!

May 13, 2013 - Brick amber at rim. Bit closed on opening, blossomed with air. Smoky Bordeaux like nose developed with time. Bit thin on palate then developed richness with air and time. Some fruit and sweetness remains. Focus and complexity. Long finish. Impressive and delicious . Cellared since release. Dinner at home.
