Community Tasting Notes 11

August 19, 2022 - I purchased this wine years ago as it was the winner of our Malbec tasting. I remember it from the last time as big, inky, and all brawn. I hped for the wine to gain some polish but it shows as it did 12 years ago. It is big, brawny and tannic and not what I admire.

December 20, 2016 - Pours ink black in the glass. The bouquet bursts through the glass with black currant, leather, and vanilla playing the dominant role. Notes of black pepper, crushed violet and coffee bean begin to show after much needed decanting time. Candied red cherries and cracked pepper are prominent on the palate as are the well-structured tannins and high octane alcohol content. Secondary flavors of toasted oak, vanilla, and warming spices leave way to an impressive 45+ second finish. Excellent wine, better after 2020 at a minimum.

October 25, 2015 - Love this Malbec! Great purple color, wonderful toasted vanilla nose, smooth supple soft tannins, some spice to the finish, and a loooong finish it is. One of the best Malbecs I've tasted yet.

July 15, 2015 - Lovely nose, needed decanting. Minimal tannins with long taste. No where near over the hill.

May 17, 2015 - Beautiful malbec, great fruit, long long flavor, tannins are dusty at this point, but keep it balanced and not flabby at all, could still age more in bottle but it's certainly ready to drink now!
