March 1, 2015 - At first it was a little muted but this was quite nice and really came around and opened up after a two hour decant. Had great structure and has really come out of its shell, showing a nice burgundian elegance. Flavors of raspberry, strawberry, a little cherry. Nice spice on the wine too. A pleasure to drink.

September 20, 2008 - To ameliorate our disappointment with the Arlaud Charmes, David was kind enough to pull out this older example. Curiously, the color was a bit deeper and less mature looking than the '96. As opposed to the prior wine, welcome purity of menthol and licorice aromas not dressed up by wood. On the palate, crisp and alright, charming, but again, quite light. Neither the concentration of fruit nor the length were particularly convincing of Grand Cru status. These 2 examples tonight certainly did not make a case for this being one of Gevrey's greatest sites.
