Woodbridge Brad Likes this wine: 88 points
October 13, 2014 - Okay this is 17 years old, but it has been in my cellar since it arrived from France via Berkeley in 1999 or 2000, 1997 was the last vintage that Charles Joguet made the wines and the vintage was ripe by standards then. 12.5% alc. The color has lost depth but the hue is still red brick and if it were Pinot Noir there it be lovely and developed. The nose is still alive and distinctly Cabernet Franc. There is a slight hint of tannin but otherwise everything is just smooth, elegant with well balanced acid, moderate body and a long very spicy finish. This is a hard wine to rate but if it were an aged Pinot I would give a it 90 since it is CF and the color has faded I am going with 88, but it works tonight and I have respect for the age ability of this wine.
