  October 2, 2023 - This pours a transparent garnet color. On day one, the nose is black cherry, fig jam, rosemary and thyme. It comes across as very closed. high acid, with a more savory fig/rosemary/leather character on the palate. Needs time to open.
  
  On day two, the savory notes are less prominent. The nose is strawberry jam, black cherry, spearmint, rosemary. On the palate the structure is still dominated by the acid--the tannins are a medium minus at best. More strawberry jam, rosemary, leather, saddle conditioner. But the strawberry comes through most purely--a really stunning rendition, especially from the region.
  
  On day three the wine really comes into its own. Cassis, bell pepper, mint, strawberry, red clay, fig leather. Still structured, although the acid and tannin feel more in balance. On the palate there is strawberry, raspberry, cigar box, cherry, clay, and mint. This was my last glass, but the wine had plenty of runway yet.
  
  This wine consistently wows me year in, year out. It's the real dark horse of the Ravines red wine line-up. Acid-driven, ageworthy, and very pretty. Buy some, and stash them away for a decade.
