October 11, 2015 - Given the price and vintage and the brand and the grape - expectations were higher than the actual experience. Served with home made ragu that took almost 3 hours to prepare - we wshould have known better and went with a signature barbaresco, amarane or even a brunello...this just did not go and was not that good...and we have all recently rediscovered petit syrahs which we are beginning to pair with tomato sauce based meals....

November 5, 2014 - At nearly 10 years old, this wine had settled considerably. There was still the big old vine nose sweetness upfront but on the palate the big huge harsh tannins have gone leaving a balanced tipping to acidic finish with a rapidly thinning center.

Not an unpleasant wine, but is that enough to recommend it at this point?

    Time to drink up!!

June 30, 2012 - This is a well balanced PS, with good fruit, that may be beginning to fade, not overdone, I would drink this soon.

May 5, 2012 - Really a reddish color, more red than I've seen in a PS, mostly clear. I get red licorice on the nose along with some raw bacon. Lots of oak on palate at first, minimal tannins, fruit comes forward eventually, settling in on an acidic finish. I love PSs with Mexican food, and this went great with some grilled ribeyes that were marinated in pureed roasted jalapenos and garlic. I think you want to drink them if your're still holding, feels just a bit past its prime. However, it was a nice wine for very $20.
