Community Tasting Notes 11

February 17, 2018 - Lots of life left in this last night
Paired with lean steak which worked well
Didn't show big, nicely balanced. Decent fruit and texture.
I liked it but for the price the QPR wasn't there.

October 30, 2013 - Showed pretty well for its age, but I don't think there's a ton of life left in this one. Bought at a tasting, so I liked it enough, but not super crazy about it. Solidly produced and notably still holding together, even though I don't think it was meant to see a lot of cellar time.

September 4, 2013 - Might be getting a bit old.

  • MagnumGourmet Does not like this wine:

March 19, 2010 - Decanted for one hour, not much sediment. My thought is if you consume one of these in the near term, you should drink the bottle quickly. The wine was nice for the first half an hour and then it fell apart into an oaky beast for the next three hours. Initial aromas of graphite, cherries and blackberries. Also some very complex and tasty flavors (couldn't pin any one flavor). Good mouthfeel and medium length finish. Hard to recommend at this price point, but I guess you are paying for all those new French oak barrels. Would not purchase again.

January 7, 2010 - Deep purple. the bottle neck actually broke when i opened this.. that was bizarre.. had to filter into a decanter.
30 mins later, finally a taste. Nose is very fruit fruit forward, lots of dark berries, some coffee and smokiness. Palate shows significant acidity and tannins. Big wine, probably needs more time, but i was in the mood for a big WA cab, and this was the one.
