Rich colour, a disturbing shade of brown, but understandable for an old Barolo.
Perfect nose, beautiful sweet fruit and floral fragrance. Hints of leather, sweet ripe cherries and plums with a light tar spice. Seamless.
Refined and stylish, polished tannins and fine acidity. Fruit and tar spice dominate, classic tar and roses, with a bright cherry edge. The age shows only at the edges with earth and leather, but apart from the softness if might seem younger than 20 years. Delicious, will age, but ideal now. -

July 24, 2023 - Tasted next to a stylistically more modern 2000 La Spinetta Barolo Campè. Open nose - leather, tar, rose petals, dark fruit. Great balance on the palate, good acidity, well integrated tannins. Lovely depth and length. Very elegant and subtle rather than powerful. No rush drinking up. 93-95

March 15, 2023 - Another excellent bottle of this wine. Decanted 2 hours before dinner. Particularly strong/robust, this bottle. A touch of vanilla oak this time. But so much material and pure fruit to carry it. Performed very well with multiple dishes at a Northern-Italian themed restaurant. One taster commented that his glass of this wine seemed to have "evaporated" in a hurry - lol. Another said he would hold these for 5+ more years. Based on this strong showing, more cellar time would not diminish the wine any.

February 19, 2023 - Don’t think I can say it any better than cweiss note on 12/26/22 - my sentiments exactly. Plenty of life left.

December 26, 2022 - Lovely. Nose would have been enough to love but the palate also offered sweet fruit, roses, and much more that I can't describe. In a great place.
