August 5, 2021 - After my note of 5/27/2021, this bottle was not good. Short on fruit and noticeably acid. A pity!

May 27, 2021 - This showed very well. Good fragrant, mature Margaux, dominated by the high CS% (65%?) v Merlot (35%?) .
Colour: med brick red, thin rim, brown edge.
Nose: opened up well and held for several hours, clearly Margaux with elegant ripe notes.
Taste: med body, good ripe fruit, mature with long finish, soft and round.
Overall, most enjoyable with the caveat that it should be drunk within a few hours of decanting. No ABV as not required on labels in those long past days...

June 23, 2015 - Dark almandine garnet with a more ruby core. Nose: beautifully perfumed, with violet, gently oxidized sour cherry, freshly baked golden cookies and a very appealing human/sexy sourly meaty note. Plus spiced wood and pencil shavings. Palate: delightfully juicy. High acidity, medium tannin, short to moderate length. Not a lot of fruit but not suffering from it at all. This is not a heavy hitter but it is exceptionally refreshing, gorgeously balanced and in very good condition. Gentle and seductive. My kind of wine. I doubt anyone else would rate this as highly as I do. £50.

May 4, 2014 - Tasted blind. Medium/pale brownish brick red. Very advanced nose - rust and iodine, band-aid and mushrooms, red currants and old jelly, the volatility of age. The palate is out of balance, with a sharp acidity, faint and thin red fruit, tart tannins and an angular finish. Impossible to tell what it is, but perhaps more of a merlot/right bank wine, judging from the remaining fruit flavours? The only bummer of the five old bordeaux on the table. An off bottle, perhaps.

May 31, 1997 - Disappointing. Thin and acidic. Only in the far distance there is some class noticeable. Must be an off bottle, but I scored it nevertheless.
