July 24, 2022 - A fairly dismissive tasting note from me 4 years ago….!
Deep garnet.
Blackcurrant, earth, chocolate nose.
Raisins, prunes, savoury palate.
Medium + body/finish, tannins well integrated.
My comments that the wine needed to be drunk up in 2018 clearly ill informed.
Couple of bottles left and will see how it evolves in the next 3-5 years. -

December 24, 2021 - Lovely smell of pepper, pencil shavings and dark berries. Balanced and medium length. Not the best vintage of Chateau Batailley, but still s good wine.

October 31, 2021 - Not as rounded as better years, but perfectly drinkable. All the classic notes of pencil box and leather, but a little lacking in concentration. Perfectly drinkable however. I like the acidity.

May 25, 2021 - It’s in its ideal drinking window. Not as powerful as in better vintages but certainly well developed. The tannins are lovely - smooth and well-rounded. Loads of black cherry, blackberry, tar, leather, thyme, smoke, pencil box, and cola notes. It’s pretty medium bodied but there’s a good finish.
