August 16, 2023 - Dinner at Chengdu Impression (Chicago, IL): Very advanced dark colour, but this was much better than the colour would have you think. Lacking brightness, this feels like a wine in the shadows, where the acidity and freshness are now starting to fade. It doesn't have the electricity and excitement, and this feels like it's already in its twilight years. I'd be opening and checking my bottles if I still had any.

August 12, 2023 - I am surprised that a mature German wine from a prized vineyard in a superb vintage can be this soft. While the sweetness is appropriate for the Prädicate there is a distinct lack of acidity to balance it. Lively soft pear and brown apple fruit and red soil tones. It’s good but seems like it could be much better.

January 22, 2023 - Great, great wine - and even better ion day 2. Layered, complex, a a core of salted citrus fruit, minerals and freshness; this still performs like a young wine.

November 25, 2022 - Pop and pour. Now 5h after opening. Cellar temp. Lovely aromas of petrol, tart and ripe apples, lovely minerals, flowers, herbs. Palate w apples, ripe pineapples, a bit ot petrol, minerals. Nice acids to balance the fruit. Med-full body. Moderately long finish. The balance is just fantastic and then add the complexity on nose and palate. Drinking beautifully now but may improve further as more tertiary notes come in.

October 27, 2022 - Medium gold color. Not bad, but kind of flat and boring, still some fruit but lacking concentration and verve and complexity.

(Donnhoff Niederhauser Hermannshohle Spatlese) This is such a brilliant wine even in its very closed state. Noble finesse and breeding and vivid red fruits. Lots of stone fruit skins on the finish and incredible minerality.
