March 29, 2024 - This was stunning, so balanced with pineapples and apricots, and with air just kept improving. I think this is still so young and primary I would cellar my single bottle for at least 5 years to see how this will evolve and if it ll get more oily like what we would expect with rayas blanc

January 6, 2023 - Started out limpid light gold, then morphed to deep gold in a couple of hours. Pretty and complex bouquet of yellow fruits and quince. Slight bitterness ands interest. Much more subtle than some of the big bold Chave Hermitages. Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc can be lighter but just as flavorful as the Northern Rhône whites. One taster thought it was undrinkable oxidized but no one else agreed.

October 18, 2022 - Medium golden color. On orange confit, honeyed fruits, spices. Good freshness and acidity. Full on wine, deep and complex, requires food I think. Not sure where this is heading. Bagnols-en-Fôret with Niels.

October 17, 2022 - A rich wine with great intensity, and the comparison with white Chave & white Burgundy is not bad, has that feel. Spicy, real Southern Accents here, some bees wax,yet with good acidity. Tasted vis-a-vis the 2004, this looses out though, the 2004 a good deal fresher.

March 24, 2021 - Don’t usually post wines not from my cellar but when a bottle is this perfect it needs to be written about! Oh man what a special wine this was. The rare Rayas blanc from the fantastic list at Addison. It was like the hypothetical child between Chave Blanc and a great White Burgundy. The opulence and textural richness of Chave Blanc combined with the minerality and acidity of White Burgundy. Drinking at its apogee, it’s rich, wide open and firing on all cylinders with an attractive waxy texture and layered complexity.
Takes a turn to magic town after 2 hours open. It is highly focused with great power, structure, balanced acidity and tremendous depth. Torched pineapple, melon, melted butter, minerals and drizzled honey. There is superb concentration and midpalate intensity leading to a seamless transition to its exceptionally long finish that just won’t dissipate. Grateful to have snagged the last one! ❤️

4/13/2008 (link)(Chateau Rayas Chateaunef-du-Pape Blanc) This had a very nutty and ripe nose. Very layered. Palate was ripe and again very layered and complex with flavors of marzipan, grilled nuts, pineapple, and pitted fruits. Sticks to the back of the mouth and clings on the palate. This will age beautifully.
