April 19, 2017 - A very special bottle of wine for us. We stayed at Chateau de La Rivière during our Bordeaux trip. We met James Gregoire from a distance on the grounds as he was headed to his office. I, not knowing of the probable pending sale at the time, noticed James' demeanor was cordial but very pensive, like something was weighing on him. I remember it distinctly. And to hear of the tragic news sometime not long after we had returned home. So sad. The memories of Chateau de La Rivière we will keep in our hearts forever. The bottle goes on my bookshelf. Santé!

July 1, 2016 - I drank this wine right after opening, with the use of an aerator. I prefer a fruitier red, like a rich Zinfandel, so I am not the target taster for this wine, which had notes of leather, tobacco, and earth. But it was smooth and complex, so it served my goal of drinking something that I had on hand that was new, interesting, and well executed. For $15, I would probably buy this again, now that I know the flavor profile. I would just not drink it when in the mood for a Zinfandel :-)

February 9, 2015 - not bad, earthy cherry

November 15, 2014 - It is still concentrated, with strong bouquet, good fresh fruit and leather, but there is an acidic foundation that takes away from it.

February 26, 2014 - Really mediocre wine. Not much body, yet very forward -- gamey, leathery, spicy. Maybe needs to sit for a while? Or maybe it'll never mature? Meh.
