January 2, 2019 - Weird how this compares to my previous note. This wine is still in a great spot. It has shed the baby fat for sure, and is showing more secondary notes. Still framed by wood, and earth and pencil shaving. The fruit is still there with a darker profile. Acidity holds everything together. This is solid and is holding steady. My previous note and some other indicate that this was on verge of falling off a cliff, but that is not the case. While there is no need to hold these over the long term, this should hold up just fine for another 5+ years.

November 10, 2018 - Decanted for approximately an hour and drank in the next 2-3 hours with a bone-in ribeye steak. Fruit is barely receding, though secondary notes are already present; dark chocolate, pencil lead, a little cigar box. This wine and vintage is made for a long haul with stiff tannins and plenty of acidity.

March 19, 2017 - Nose: Ruby at the edges with a dark center, the nose is full of plum, ripe blackberry, espresso, floral notes and a truffle/earth note. Slight alcohol showing and some green pepper popping in as well.

Palate: Very layered attack with bright red fruit, black fruit, chocolate, spice and fig notes. There are decent tanins beneath the ample fruit, but they are growing softer. Feel is velvety with creamy undertones.

Finish: Wine really starts showing mineral nuance, florals, spice and more plum fruit on the finish. Not one to show everything at once this kept changing little by little over 3-hours.

A complete wine with great layers, good ripeness, complexity beginning to show. I agree with Tanzer that another 5-years in the cellar will help as it shows fairly young.

October 20, 2016 - Coravin'ed few ounces. The nose off the bat was exciting. This is aging well. 2 hours of air and it was drinking really well. Still a little hot, but drank well with spicy Thai food.
