July 8, 2023 - Opened this at a small gathering in our backyard. This was similar to the last bottle - i.e. a decent Bdx blend with some age, but nothing special. Three bottle lot from recent auction is now gone.

May 20, 2023 - 2nd of 3 bottles. Cork was in great shape with this bottle, hardly stained past the bottom.
This showed a little better than the first bottle, as it seemed more integrated, but I still found the elevated volatile acidity to be a little distracting. Not bad, but I wish I had more of the 2000!

May 8, 2023 - Opened this after a really nice bottle of the 2000. Cork stained the whole way up, but I was able to get this mostly out except for a couple of small pieces.
Unfortunately, the 2000 outshone this by a wide margin. This started off with elevated volatile acidity that gave this a sharp attack. Not overwhelming, but more than a little distracting. After the initial sharpness, a dense clump of fruit and oak awaited. Mouthfeel was a little coarse and the oak seemed to dominate the flavor profile. Overall, not bad, but I was expecting more after the really surprising 2000 bottle that preceded this. Also, I agree with the previous note that this is drinking much younger than its age.
Amazingly, this did not change much in character after being open for 3 days (stoppered overnight in the wine fridge).
If scoring, I'd be somewhere in the 85 - 87 range. Hopefully, the two remaining bottles will show better.

February 26, 2022 - Giving it 92 only because it drinks like a 2016. Without knowing it was a 2006 I’m not sure I would have guessed it was a 2006. Drinking very well and maybe even very young. Great wine with a smoked tenderloin with friends. Honestly very primary and could go easily another decade+.

(Cadence Winery Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Wine Red Mountain) A surprisingly different nose from most wines found from this vineyard with chocolate, juicy plum, and herbal notes. A very dry wine with a pleasing tannin profile. Still young and needs time to open up. 36% Cabernet; 32% Cab Franc; 20% Merlot; 12% Petit Verdot. 14.4% alcohol.
