January 28, 2023 - Intensely dark red leaning purple; completely opaque. The nose and palate are seamless with cranberry, pomegranate, and blackberry fruit as well as anise/licorice, saddle leather and black pepper all wrapped in a smokey goodness. To be 21 years old and this youthful is simply incredible. The tannins are not fully integrated, but very round. Over the course of the meal, the wine evolved little. Drink now or hold for another 5 years (if only I had another bottle!) The ease with which the wine went down is a testament to how drinkable it is both by itself and with a meal. Simply a delightful wine. Very little sediment. From magnum. Double decanted. 15.3% alc. With roasted beef tenderloin with a glaze of butter, soy sauce, sugar, and Worchester sauce. 01.28.23. Highly Recommended.

May 31, 2021 - Still rather youthful….30 mins to open and blow off the funk….menthol, spice, muted cherries, more spice , leather, long finish. Integrated and interesting.

October 2, 2020 - Still drinking very nicely. May not get better but no indication that it is on a downward slide. Enjoyed it with stuffed cabbage.

January 5, 2018 - Inky black at the core and deep pomegranate at the rim. Smokey with cranberry, pomegranate and cassis on the nose. Possibly some smoked meat notes. The palate reflects a wine still tight and beginning to stretch some muscle. Tracking the nose on the palate, but not much length. The finish is earthy with mushrooms. A very approachable and drinkable at this stage, but easily a long hold, especially when ageing glacially at 53 degrees. Some sediment, but not as much as expected. The cork reflected some weeping with wine having seeped to the top and dried. The bottom of the cork is thick with sediment and a line of sediment runs the length of the bottle (having been stored on its side). From magnum. 15.3% alc. With chicken with ham in a mushroom sauce. Recommended.

December 23, 2016 - A nice expression of Petite. Softer, loamy, deep purple coloring but not an aggressive composition. Believe this in peak window. Tannins resolved, fruit still interesting, long gentle finish. Some rocky minerality in there, but mainly its about the juice. A food wine given more gentle construction.
