February 19, 2024 - Still on song: showing lots of bottleage - almost tawny port coloured.Tannins still ther but soft ans mellow and still good frioit on middle and end. Only one ledt!

September 27, 2023 - This wi e is superb. It is elegant and absolutely in a prime drinking window for a Rioja. I prefer it over the 2004 gran reserva. Urbina is an outstanding producer with Rioja wines that are light yet full bodied, elegant and that age beautifully. And a good value to boot.

May 7, 2023 - Utterly fabulous: huge bottle age showing on the edge. Pungent earthy nose with red fruit. Blackberry and vivcioua acidity on the palate, long with cedar on the finish. Soft round tannins. Drinking beautifully

April 2, 2023 - Deep garnet. Lovely mature nose with crushed violets, vanilla pod, cinammon, mushroom, prune and autumn leaves enveloping a core of black cherry. Delicious, savoury palate with smoked meat, and cracked pepper punctuated with fig notes for a long finish. Very appetising! No reason to wait, drink now.

    WSET notes:

    Deep garnet.

Pronounced on the nose with black cherry, crushed violets, vanilla pod, coconut, cinammon, dried cherry, prune, mushroom, and fig. Fully developed.

Pronounced and dry on the palate which brings peppered meat. Full body, high partly resolved tannins, high acidity, high alcohol, long finish.

Drink now. Not suitable for aging or further aging.
