February 11, 2017 - SO'd for a few hrs then double decanted, med. garnet, dark & red fruit with a touch of spice, soft tannins, mod/long finish; delicious & at peak, drink up

February 4, 2017 - Much, much superior to the Chaupin, this has the vintage mark of cool concentration; stil very fresh with a core of kirsch, a fine precision and a Grenache-expression, that never lose focus. This will keep, albeit very enjoyable now - very fine also on day 2.

February 4, 2017 - TWE LUNCHEON: 2/3/17... Bring a wine you will be "proud of"

'83 margaux: beautiful wine, mature but not over the hill, great aromatics, dried fruit, cranberries, decent acidity (94)

'09 kistler elizabeth: my wota, wow - deftly balanced fruit and acid, bright but powerful and somehow not overdone, sweet and tart fruit, cherries/cranberries, long finish (96)

'10 Dumol PN Finn: delicious but overshadowed by Kistler, lighter style and less midpalate fruit (93)

'01 Janasse VV: a bit over the hill, w/ some alcohol coming thru over the fruit but still delicious (92)

'01 Spottwoode Mag: more savory notes, group liked this better than '03 but i liked '03 (94)

'03 Spottswood Mag: more coffee/chocolate notes, slightly darker fruit profile - i preferred this over the '01 (95)

'02 Insignia: longer finish than the spottswoode's, better midpalate fruit (96)

'07 Les Pavots: a touch overdone, overripe, oaky compared to others although half the group loved this wine as their favorite, to me bottom of the cab lineup (92)

    '97 Shafer HSS: corked!

overall, all great wines. the group generally liked the Kistler, '01 spottswoode, "02 Insignia and Pavots the best.

January 30, 2017 - Full of flavor, but a lot of sediment so make sure you filter this wine thoroughly before drinking. Even though drinking great now, its still young you can for sure wait a few more years before opening.

November 5, 2016 - This is close to peaking, probably a few years out, but has plenty of fruit for the long haul. Very good now, but the best is yet to come. Lots of fruit and good acidity. This is well made and a joy to drink
