June 25, 2018 - The bottle was in perfect condition. This time popped and poured, not decanted. The wine was dark ruby, almost garnet in colour and had a classic nose of red and dark fruit, black currant, cedar, pencil shaving, tobacco and spices. On the palate, the wine showed cherry, black currant, some blackberry, some plum, coffee, tobacco, spices, cinnamon and graphite, with good acidity, mostly resolved tannin and good length of the slightly drying finish. The medium-bodied wine had good fruit concentration, even if it seemed slightly thin toward the end. The smooth, smooth and reasonably balanced paired well with fillet of beef and did not show the bitterness the last bottle developed after extended aeration. Drink now.

November 11, 2016 - The bottle was in perfect condition. The wine was dark ruby in colour and threw some sediment. It offered dark fruit, cabbage, vegetal notes, charcoal, earth and smoke on the nose, joined by cedar, spices, cinnamon and tobacco after some aeration. On the palate the wine showed nice dark fruit flavours, cherry, black currant, blackberry, plum, spices, cinnamon and tobacco, with fresh, medium-plus acidity, medium-plus tannin and average length. Initially, the medium-bodied wine had a good mouthfeel and was smooth and balanced, with only slight bitterness that was not disturbing. However, as time passed the bitterness became more and more prominent and while I liked the wine’s good fruit concentration and its smoothness and balance, the bitterness became off-putting and ruined what could have been a great Bordeaux experience.

March 20, 2012 - From the very difficult 1991(spring frost on April destroyed most of the crop). Garnet with tawny rim. Tertiary with roses, cedar, brett and earthy notes around a core of blackcurrants. Well integrated oak with coffee aromas. Elegant on palate with bright acidity and supple slightly green tannins. Complex and very enjoyable.

November 12, 2011 - Roux Weekend with Château Léoville-Poyferré; 11/11/2011-11/12/2011 (Inverlochy Castle *. Torlundy/Fort William, Scotland): Jeroboam. Light but perfectly serviceable, first Jeroboam slightly volatile the other fine, cedar, delicate, elegant and some warmth. Nice suprise. Now.
