June 11, 2021 - Online Blind Tasting #9: Broadening your wine horizon: *** Note is based on 0,1l bottles filled about 2 days before the tasting from 0,75l bottle and 0,1l two days after the tasting ***
    Glass: Zalto Universal
Clear, deep amber color. Clean, medium+ intense and fully developed nose. Fresh honey, some fresh exotic fruits, herbs, caramel, some smokiness and a tiny bit of firn. Beautiful and complex.
On the palate not too sweet, more off-dry/medium-sweet, perfectly balanced by a well-integrated high, racy acidity. 11% abv. Medium body. Aromas of honey, black tea, fresh exotic fruits, almost pure passion fruit juice, some spices, pineapple. Slightly oily, creamy texture, beautiful balance and harmony. Long and lingering finish with very clear, fresh and fine passion fruit. Complex. Wonderful tension! Amazing to see how well Rieslaner in the hand of a true master can age! Even this bottle needs time and air an gets better and better. Best two days after the tasting. 93-94

December 21, 2019 - Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: X-Mas Tasting 2019: Glass: Zalto Universal
Popped and poured. Nothing more to add to my last tasting note. A botrytis monster in the best sense. Give it time and air and don’t drink it too cold. 93

December 12, 2019 - from 750ml format, rich orange mature color, zesty and sweet nose of grand proportions, orange peel, blood orange, rose petals, on the palate fully mature, incredible depth, ripe, dazzling, luscious, but contained within a translucent sleeve of deft lime acids and minerals to subtly maintain a harmonious balance, savored sparingly over the course of a 6 hour dinner- it seemed only to grow in stature over time, this is the first time I have tasted one of Hans-Gunther Schwarz's Muller-Catoirs at full maturity, and it confirms every last ounce of great praise that has been heaped upon the man, this is at its blazing height and not showing any signs of decline, but all the same my gut tells me this is best enjoyed over the next decade.

    *****, now to 2030

Drunk over 3 days from perfect bottle. Clear, medium amber color. Clean, medium+ intense and fully developed nose. Fresh honey, exotic fruits, herbs, caramel, some smokiness and a tiny bit of firn. Beautiful and complex.
On the palate not too sweet, more off-dry/medium-sweet, perfectly balanced by a well-integrated medium+ acidity. 11% abv. Medium body. Amazing to see how well Rieslaner in the hand of a true master can age! It will certainly not get any better and I will drink my remaining bottles over the next 2-3 years. 92-93

March 20, 2015 - #23-90, 11% abv. Pale gold, with just a hint of salmon pink. Whoa. Seatbelts, everybody! Spicy, exotic nose, with a very dominant apricot jam note. A bit of lychee and baked apple round it out. The palate has a light touch of sweetness, which takes a backseat to the screaming acidity -- the sort that you'd expect when you bite into an unripe green apple. But at the same time, there are flavours of dried stone fruits, and that lends both interest and balance to the wine. A fantastical bottle of wine -- one that takes you on a real trip. And to add to that... this bottle just kept getting better and better with more air. The elements integrated better and became deeper. The work of a master.
