January 4, 2024 - Quick 30 minutes decant. Deep ruby red. The nose is of medium intensity showing darker red fruit, morello cherry, tar, licorice, earthy and gamey notes. On the palate, it is quite bold and extractive, tannin and acidity prevail over the fruit. Good structure. Oak is well integrated. Medium finish. If blind, would take it as an old-school Barolo/Barbaresco.

September 13, 2008 - Dinner at Edmund and Shuming's (The Cornwall, Singapore): Second time I have had this bottle. Poured straight out from the bottle, this was far, far better than the last bottle that I had. Red core with slightly garnet rim. Nose showed lots of dusky cherries, dried earth and some savoury leather and game tones. With a bit of air, some deeply inviting forest floor aromas emerged. Really lovely. More of the same on the palate - dusky cherries, with good intensity and concentration and just that little touch of game. Good enough acid, nice and round though not tremednously fresh, and slightly powdered tannins gave the wine a nice sense of structure and balance. Excellent really, save for the rather short and abrupt finish. So differently built from the previous bottle, making me suspect that the earlier version may have aged rather prematurely.

May 25, 2008 - Drank at Edmund and Shuming's. 2000 is not my favourite vintage for Cote de Nuits reds, but this showed okay. Wine was turning garnet / orangey. The nose was very mute at first, but with a lengthy decant, opened up nicely to show morel mushrooms, savoury Brands Essence of Chicken, earth notes and a hint of flowers. Lots of cherry on the palate, slightly stewed flavours, and a pretty good finish with some spice and a flush of heat. A bit straightforwad, but this had some power and focus, and was well structured, with good balance (perhaps needing just a little more acid) and poise.
