June 11, 2021 - In a dumb phase but this does change quite a bit over the course of 3 hours +. There is a soy sauce, Asian spice element that comes around with extended air time and does make for a more charming experience vs. the the very dry, clipped palate and flavors at the moment. Menthol, sage, various cabinet spice and very indicative of "middle age" profile characteristics. The good news is like so many of the '96 persuasion, this does provide, at face value, plenty of refreshment and purity. 91 points potential as this opens up. Save your bottles!!!

September 16, 2014 - Deep garnet / maroon with slight browning; a touch cloudy. Nose shows forest floor, licorice, rhubarb/ root, black cherry, strawberry and a distinct aroma that I only pick up in goat cheese. The palate was very acidic and closed for the first 60 minutes and gradually opened up after that, showing very nicely with dark, earthy flavors. Smooth over the palate, the acidity is strong and peaks in the mid-palate where it makes the wine feel a bit sharp. Full bodied, this lacked the elegance that I generally expect from this village. The finish is medium-plus and shows secondary flavors of leather and tobacco. Paired very well with grilled lamb.
Very good – Drink or Hold -

December 21, 2012 - Just a slight touch of taint, but nonetheless nowhere near my previous bottle. Still worked well with dinner.

August 15, 2011 - Another wow burgundy experience. 15 years young, this Chambolle for the relatively small and not-so-well-known Chatelots 1er Cru appears to be hitting its stride and its prime drinking window. Vigorous ruby color, the wine comes off cloudy (I suspect unfiltered), but that might be the only nit to pick here. Medium bodied with fantastic concentration of the fruit, but light on its feet. Firm but gentle acids, velvety texture. Expressive and developed nose of root veggies, smoked meat and berries. Over the 2.5 hours it took us to finish the bottle, the most amazing thing was how it continually changed its flavor profile. Started out with a sweet cherry preserve flavor, then with some air turned smoky and meaty, to further develop a red beet flavor, add some raspberries and cherry cola at the end. Intriguing, long and complex, this wine kept us engaged all night and made for a memorable night.

March 23, 2010 - Opened approx 30 min. before serving. Nice dark red coloring. A muted nose with flavors of cherry, red berry, spice and a bit of burgandian earthiness. Very balanced on the palate with no tannins. At it's peak
