Community Tasting Notes 7

February 27, 2013 - Few tasting notes as this was drunk with friends after a couple of bottles had already been consumed.
+ Full red berry character, rose petals, good length for the money
    - A little too sour

December 4, 2012 - Decanted an hour before serving. Deep maroon color with a ruby rim. Big expressive nose showing red & black fruit, cinnamon & a little truffle. Big, full bodied, muscular Brunello. The vintage is in play here as this is loaded with fruit in front of everything. The fruit however, is beautiful pure Sangiovese. Spiced red fruit, dusts of mocha & just a little earthiness. Some acidity lingers and adds a bright element here. Tannins have largely resolved and are quite soft. Medium length finish.

Great with roasted pork loin for dinner. The glass afterward was quite nice as well. The air was mind to this as the intensity really picked up. Good wine, but I think the 2003 vintage can be consumed now in general.

October 28, 2012 - A nice and smooth BdM. Nose dominated by cherries, tobacco, and wet earth. Medium plus body with fully mature tannins which are balanced by plenty of acidity. Palate mirrors the nose with tart black cherries and flavors of tobacco firmly in front of oak influences. Excellent balance. As good as this particular vintage from Canalicchio has tasted thus far.

November 14, 2011 - Dark and rich with a tad bit of earth. For BdM, great PQR.
