Community Tasting Notes 4

August 27, 2013 - Gone. Bricking all the way through. Nose is oxidized. Fruit is very faded with Bacon fat/smoke dominating the palette. Oxidized, old finish. Cellared since release.

March 10, 2013 - Continues to pair well with a heavy, tomato-garlic-caper sauce (on trout this time!); acid and tannins both softer-edged but still assertive, the tannins also tightly coupled with a strongly smoky, rustic fruit which dominates the nose. Cleared at 56F since purchase, drunk from 62-66F.

November 17, 2010 - I truly don't understand the other tasting notes. This was my sixth of six bottles. Each one consumed over the last 7 years has been an exemplar of Crozes. Not as big as Hermitage. Not as rough as St Joseph. But earthy, animale deep fruits with just enough acidity to need food. Tannins have never been obtrusive but now softened.

Excellent with big red meat seasoned with herbs and garlic. If you like most California syrah, this is probably not for you.

Probably now at or very slightly past peak. Wish I had more.

October 6, 2008 - This wine was not worth drinking. Not corked, not oxidized, but flawed in every other sense. Too bad I have 4 left.
