Community Tasting Notes 1

March 20, 2012 - Mid gold colour and clear as a bell, cork wet to half way but sound. Nose dominated by diesel fumes initially. This morphed into a rather intense wax polish after a couple of hours and for the next two days. Not a pleasant nose. Palate off-dry to medium. Acidity not sufficient to cut the sweetness. Fruit and honey, pineapple chunks and more wax. Taste actually very good but experience dominated by the nose. Wish I knew more about what to expect with old riesling. (80pts)
EDIT: On the third day (!) the nose has calmed down or the diesel has all burnt off, and the acidity hascrept up to balance the sweet. This is now a tasty glass of wine. (85 pts)
