Community Tasting Notes 4

    November 27, 2020 - 13% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Dark yet moderately translucent, somewhat evolved brick-red color with an orange rim. Distinctive and obviously very evolved nose with a prominent streak of honey, raisins and pineapple, making me think of red Beerenauslese, followed by nuances of meat stew, some soft strawberry and a hint of animale funk. The wine feels savory, tertiary and fully mature on the palate with flavors of meaty umami, some wizened red fruits, a little bit of pruney dark fruit, light notes of bouillon, a ferrous hint of blood and a sweet touch of wizened figs. The structure relies more on the moderately high acidity than on the rather light tannins. The finish is quite long with some tannic grip and quite tertiary flavors of wizened dark berries, some bouillon, a little bit of wizened red plum, light cooked fruit tones and a sanguine hint of iron.

A decent older red wine. Doesn't offer much to swoon about, but nothing to be complaining about either. Very tertiary overall feel without much oxidative qualities. Overall the wine is lacking in depth and complexity, coming across as somewhat linear for a 1er Cru Burgundy. Overall I was surprised by age of the wine, as I guessed 20-25 yo red Burgundy. Well, at least I got the region right.

March 12, 2019 - It was quite pleasing. Rather dry, still traces of oak, nice mouth feel, tasted as though it was more brown than it was. Good acid, and half poured off into a screw cap half bottle was at least as good, probably better, several days later.

January 12, 2014 - Jammy, slightly cooked red fruit, predominantly strawberry. Nose more interesting than the palate, but a bit unclean. Drinkable, but lacks elegance and finesse.

April 2, 2010 - Green nose, green peperonis... in the mounth, a lot of tannins, lacking fruit
