Community Tasting Notes 8

March 3, 2018 - This wine needed to decant for longer than the time we had available. The musty odor faded slowly but would have been less off-putting had we planned ahead.

July 26, 2015 - Wine is past prime. Tannins are gone and blueberry jam remains without much else. Drink up.

February 13, 2015 - I was a bit concerned about this wine in my cellar seeing some flawed bottles. So to improve my chances I decanted this 2-1/2 hours prior to drinking. For those that still have this cellared, you must decant this early. I'm getting ahead of myself but it just kept on getting better, now approaching 4 hrs.

The wine is medium garnet and displayed thick beautiful legs on the glass. A full nose of red fruits, tobacco and a hint of forest floor. The fruit is apparent on the front with layers of cassis, oak, forest floor and a pleasantly long finish of the same with a surprise of vanilla at the end. Not a lot of tannins left put enough to let this keep properly cellared for a couple more years. But I wouldn't wait--it is well balanced right now.

Some people like younger reds and some more aged. I'm the latter and that might be why I score this higher than most. While Peju may not have the best reds in the valley, I do think their Cab Francs are better than most.

Live, love and wine a little :-)

March 30, 2013 - Probably a bit past prime, but it is disappointing to find that already. As we thought with Peju, just not worth the money. Good juice but round tannins have not aged well. Initially flat as a pop and pour, it found a backbone at 45 minutes but never improved.

October 15, 2010 - Nice Wine. Smooth with edges of anise and tobacco.
