August 2, 2018 - Brought to a blind wine tasting. Everyone guessed Italian, but most thought Nebbiolo given it was so orange/brown in the glass. The nose is very mature and quite medicinal. It still had structure and some tannins, but I felt this has clearly passed its peak. A decent wine and some nice history, but this didn't blow me away. The 1986 version of this was nicer.

September 9, 2013 - Opened this bottle with low expectations given the age, yet this wine delivered. It is certainly a mature wine, as the dry fruit hints of aged balsamic, cedar but the fruit attained a nice complexity. The wine has good structure and balance to frame the fruit -- it certainly tasted no more advanced than most '95 Bordeauxs that I've tried recently. Drank it with dinner over 2 hours without noticing any fading. A pleasant surprise.
