Community Tasting Notes 4

August 15, 2016 - Dinner at Marc's (Marc's Apartment - Chicago, IL): So stoked to open a 1996 that drank much differently than the stereotype. Lots of rich cherries and cranberries on the nose with good depth and complexity on the palate. Definitely had a darker edge to the palate than I was expecting but the tannins were soft and the acidity was fresh but not overpowering.

June 9, 2010 - Clear lighter Garnet with slight rim variation. Extremely aromatic nose, red flowers dried strawberry, ripe cherry & raspberry. The wine is very fruit forward, although there are some subtle hints of sort of a wet rock minerality. Good acidty and great balance in the wines structure, the mineral component really jumps out more in the flavors, the red fruits take more of a back seat to the minerality and floral component. The acid holds a firm grip on the mouth for a good minute. Alittle bit of a light 1996 burg that im used to but its very good.

July 13, 2009 - Pleasant, light-bodied burg with nice aromatics but not a lot of complexity. Hard to imagine these improving so drink 'em if you got 'em.

October 11, 2007 - Wineflock - 1er Red Burgundy 1988-1998 (Bob Gaynor's): Group #4, My #1 - clear pale red color with crimson at the edges. Big forward nose of candied strawberry and cherry. A completely different nose from the rest of the group with some nice sweetness to it. Mmmn, lovely ripe round red cherry and strawberry with good body, acidity, and nice balance.
