Community Tasting Notes 3

September 11, 2021 - The 1949 Lynch Bages was not a universal favorite around the table, but it was certainly a favorite of mine. Its sapid, wild, ripe red fruit and eucalyptus notes offered reminders of why Lynch-Bages bore the moniker of the “poor man’s Mouton” through much of the 20th century (though nowadays a poor man can’t get anywhere near Lynch Bages, but that is another story). I very much admire the persistence of the ripe, healthy fruit here, allied with grilled nuts, sous bois, and the aforementioned eucalyptus and would happily drink a bottle of this again.

September 10, 2021 - Epic Bordeaux for an Epic Birthday!; 9/1/2021-9/12/2021 (Paris & Bordeaux): Funnily enough we ended up with two bottles of this wine at the tasting but what can you do? This was all different to me than the other wines and not entirely sure why. I get pretty which makes me think more like dried flower petals. Then something I can’t quite put my finger on. Less fresh than the wines around it but again we’re before both of my parents were born so wine like that is always a treat.

February 22, 1988 - British bottled. Excellent color. Lively. Not too acidic. Medium depth of fruit. Excellent for age.
