Community Tasting Notes 16

  • MC2 Wines Likes this wine:

January 6, 2020 - Another Year, Another Napa (aka Winter in Wineland IV); 1/5/2020-1/11/2020 (Napa/Sonoma California): Cote Rotie is one of my favorites and this is a classic producer from a great vineyard so always nice to get a chance to try. It's a lovely wine and if I could find it for closer to the community or auction average I'd be buying a bunch of it. Darker fruits, a hint of the brine but it's more background in this wine. Great structure and power. Drinking nicely.

  • Blake Brown Likes this wine:

January 5, 2018 - 2000 DOMAINE JOEL CHAMPET LA VIALLIERE COTE-ROTIE- muted mild aromas persisted, but more came in once tasted including wild, earthy red and black cherry; it was medium to full bodied and easy on the palate.

May 4, 2017 - Rare Northern Rhone Dinner (Tocqueville): Expressive and pretty bouquet with lots of black pepper and young blackberry and currant. Very aromatic. On the palate the fruit is already maturing and showing more much more developed flavors than the '99s in this flight.

  • OenoEd Likes this wine: 95 points

May 4, 2017 - How fortunate I was to taste a small pour of this rare beauty: a compelling nose with hints of cola syrup, cherry liqueur, very fresh, rich and penetrating. Just as you think it might be cloying, a perfect hint of orange zest and grapefruit seed bitterness invites another sip, driving to a medium finish: youthful, sweet, tempered by great iron shavings minerality.
