Community Tasting Notes 5

October 29, 2023 - This was excellent and still very young, but with lovely balance that eludes many 05s. Still dark in color with very little color fade to the rim; the nose is full of ripe dark fruit; plum and cassis initially and then with air it becomes more red with black cherry, raspberry jam. Some mineral and floral notes emerge as it continues to open. Rich and velvety on the palate with full throttle fruit, lovely acidity and while there is structure it is remarkably fine grained and silky. This has easily another 25 years of good drinking in good storage. This was a Kermit Lynch imported bottle purchased in the secondary market. Would love to find some more at similar prices.

June 30, 2014 - Delicate and floral. The palate was a bit acidic but softened with 45 minute decant. Had with porcini mushroom and truffle ravioli that matched the subtle palate of the aged burgundy.

January 21, 2013 - Nice wine with cherry, dust and agave. I get a faint smell of tequila.

February 3, 2011 - Elegant fragrant nose of feminine perfume and a little toasted nut. This wine as of 2010 is drinking young - the tannins are course and the mouthfeel is a little rough and tumble. This is a Burgundy with a lot of backbone, and will probably be showing much better given 4-8 more years in the bottle. Interesting guava aspect on the finish.

September 4, 2009 - Needs just a bit more time. Decanted for an hour before serving and tannins are not as well integrated as they could be. A pleasant stony herbal mouth-feel though this was outclassed by the 2007 Williams Selyem Westside Road Neighbors.
