Community Tasting Notes 7

June 1, 2023 - Dark red verging on purple with only slight bricking along rim. Pours and hits the palate (dense) closer to a Mourvedre - only the nose gives away Pinot. Black cherry, currant and forest fruits with distinctly savory notes throughout. Tannic finish. This surprised me for how chewy, dark and concentrated it is. Have tasted plenty of nearby AOCs but this is my first Corton.

September 25, 2020 - Theme: Grand Cru: Saturated medium red. The color is deeper than both Faiveley and Anne Gros. Quite floral, with dark fruits, light sous bois and meaty. Nicely balance on the palate, medium weight and some edgy tannin. This has the savouriness on the palate. Pretty long way to go.

February 21, 2020 - As expected, dark, masculine nose, forest notes, dark cherry, spices, underbrush. Masculine with present but very well managed tannins. Good complexity. Did well with a bit of air, can age further.

July 31, 2019 - Medium ruby, flowers, cherry, tree bark, a sweet note to it, very good balance and drinks amazing now. Wow

    April 12, 2017 - Tasted blind.
Clear, medium ruby (albeit a tad lighter than the LLM Corton Renardes), translucent rim.
A nose of sweet red cherry, herbs, earth and rocky minerality. Floral bouquet and a hint of green stems.
High acidity, medium(+) body, medium(+) flavour intensity with ripe red cherry, sweet herbs and sous bois. Medium(+) grippy tannins, long finish.
A powerful core, balanced by nice floral aromatics and a touch of stems on the nose and back palate. This is just beginning to develop some complexity, and is still young. Decent now if you pull the cork, but ideally let it sleep for a few years more. 92 pts now, with clear upside to 93+ pts.
