September 13, 2023 - Cherry, licorice, mushroom, super fresh still, tannins are bracing at 20 years. Cinnamon.

April 13, 2023 - Opened and decanted well in advance, which didn't prove to be the right approach. This was tired and flabby when poured, and got less interesting from there. Another bottle tasted in 2020 was MUCH better when popped-and-poured.

January 22, 2023 - Needs air – not surprisingly. Showing some age, though not much, quite fresh, especially for the vintage. No prunyness here, just black olives, bacon, very much a La Landonne. Tasted vis-a-vis Les Bessards from the same producer, this falls short - and seems actually a bit more heavy and baked.

February 27, 2021 - Decanted for one hour. Almost opaque darker garnet. Nose of billowing lavender, plum pits, black pepper, asphalt, craggy rock. Layers of fresh, juicy blackberry and dark plum fruit on the palate cut with peppery iodine, char, and sweet, brambly grip. Sprightly acidity and smoothed tannin. Longer finish of streamlined ripe red fruit and crags. Best showing yet, and a brilliant pairing with steak fajitas.

February 7, 2021 - Opaque purple. Nose of black pepper, blackberry, deep lavender, char, damp earth. Layers of ripe plum, brambles, smoky meaty tones, craggy soil, and ground pepper on the chiming palate. Bright acidity and smoothed tannin. Long finish of round red plum, beef blood, peppery spice, and sweet grip. Exhibits balance and vibrancy despite the hot year. An excellent example.
