Community Tasting Notes 5

September 13, 2013 - No formal note, but this has come on nicely, with a smoky, red and black fruited nose, plenty of black pepper, soft and reasonably generous on the palate, decent acidity, good length finish. Good balance and now showing some nice complexity. Ready to drink, very good.

January 14, 2012 - Approachable nose of fruit, herbs and farmyard notes. Earthy minerality, smokey verging on meaty, balanced by richly evident fruit: blackberry, raspberry, hints of strawberry. Freshness throughout. Easy finish with supple tannins. Drink up. Great.

November 5, 2010 - quality aroma, but taste is of a bit a lower level, fruity, but less character.

August 27, 2010 - Medium/deep purple/ruby core, medium pale purple rim. Youthful nose, bursting with ripe black fruit and some nice peppery notes. Quite full bodied on the palate but also bright and fresh with youthful blackberry fruit, black pepper notes, supple, approachable fine tannins. Lacks a little depth and length on the mid-palate and finishes a little short but decently balanced with attractive (if not overly complex) flavours (13.5%ABV).

December 13, 2009 - Wow!!! This is like a horse has taken a huge dump in your glass at first - this has that musty, rustic odour of merde upon opening but with a real depth of fruit on the nose that is very bewitching - then it settles down into a very wonderful mix of rasberry and rugged southern french herbs. At first in the mouth quite full but this soon relaxes into something much more refined - even at such a young age this has a serene quality about it that is very assured and hints and wonderful things in the future. To be honest, you can knock this back now and enjoy it but I think another 1-2 years would relax the wine a little and this would be fantastic drinking. Top quality stuff at the reasonable price of £16 a bottle.
