March 17, 2019 - Another big birthday - the 5-0 (Rezza Trattoria e Pizza Romana): From a mag. I should preface this with I am strange and somehow have avoided the Burgundy bug. This was a totally fine wine. I preferred it to the Sea Smoke which I thought was overpowering. But I don't think it really stood up to something like the Diamond Creek (99 Gravelly Meadow) which was just much more vibrant and interesting. This was a bit more earth driven. A bit less complex. Light and easy drinking. Worked as a pairing for some of the early appetizers.

January 19, 2018 - In really good form. Some earthy development and a little underbrush sneaking into the aroma profile. The fruit is dense black cherry. It has some floral nuance and a suggestion of smoked meats. Texture is liquid velvet and depth and length admirable.

December 16, 2017 - Deep purplish colour with some bricking on meniscus. Nose offers up
mature ripe small red fruit, spice, smoke, leather and sous bois.
Rich fruit with still quite strong tannins and lovely minerality. Long finish.Great GC with many years to go.

December 3, 2014 - colour still deep and looked very young.
Nose hint of maturity with sour fruit and some rustic notes .
Plenty of fruit on palate with delicious twist of slightly sour fruit . Very alive an just hitting its stride

November 20, 2014 - 1999 Red Burgundy with Richard Brazier (Handford Wines, London): Backward wine, sharp and the tannin was too much on the forefront and dominated what other wise was a pretty nice wine. Needs a lot of time for the fruit to develop. Even with all these constraints one does not fail to see that this is a quality wine and with some patience , say 5yrs, this will be a great wine. 91-92
