July 9, 2019 - absolutely beautiful classic Amarone drinking at its peak right now.
Carefully tasted after standing upright for a couple of weeks. i decided not to decant the wine, which turned out to be the right choice.
Exquisitely balanced despite the 15 % alcohol. The texture is velvety soft but the wine is still holding together with just enough acidity and tannins.
The hue is fairly unevolved for a 31 year old wine.
complex nose with cherry, spice, earthy notes. The texture makes this wine. could possibly have held on for a few more years but it wouldn't have improved. Brings back excitement for Amarone!

November 22, 2018 - Very closed when first decanted. Slowly improved over an hour or so, but never got anywhere near what I expected/hoped it would be. Bottle was physically in good condition, and color was good, but I'm unsure how well it had actually been stored.

March 14, 2014 - this wine proved that Amarones do age! Smooth as silk with wonderful balance and complexity, bricking slightly but lots of fresh dark fruits and secondary nuance of saddle leather, forest floor and anise framing a wine that still has more time to go. A real pleasure!

June 20, 2013 - Medium garnet-ruby with near perfect cork; Red plum, fresh prune, dried cassis, intense dried fruits, slight tomato leaf and a bit herbal; medium plus body, very intense mouth mirroring the nose; chewy, with a tangy sour plum long finish. This is fairly is showing very well but a bit over-the-top and somewhat of an old world fruit bomb (still). Quite amazing, but I prefer the lighter, more elegant and lithe '77.
