November 15, 2015 - 2nd wine eh? Pretty good although to be fair not amazing. Mouthfilling structure driven by persistent sandy tannin and cold dry fruits. A little hard to penetrate, leaving me to wonder whether this is at least a couple of years too young. Pretty classy.

April 23, 2015 - Med ruby color. Aromas: savory, beef, umami broth, some bacon and pork belly, but tart plum and currant fruit as well. Palate: gritty tannins, they’re still quite strong, moderate acid. I’m loving the anise, beef broth, black pepper (lots of that), plenty of earthy-herbal aspects, like pot, hops and floral potpourri. Fruit takes a back seat, but still present (like a warm compote of black cherries and plums) Long, creamy and herbal finish. After two hours, this thing gets all sorts of silky. By day two, even more complex: chewing tobacco, beef drippings, pepper, seaweed. This wine is firing. May be a “second wine” but the quality is just as high, only stylistic differences. This is much more open and accessible, still very well structured, but I’m impressed by how expressive it was.

February 20, 2015 - Bottle was likely a bit old. Heading to a port-like profile.

July 7, 2011 - Big wine. Nice companion to grilled meat. Tannic, but warm with a long aftertaste. Can be stored for 10 years +.

May 14, 2011 - No where near as leathery or full as when first purchased. Holding one now for the fun of it. it keeps getting "redder" as it goes.
