Last week I had this wine straight after tasting pierre chermette's 09 Beauj. cuvée traditionnelle and I (and the other tasters) could hardly believe this was gamay: it resembled an excellent village wine from a good vintage. This week I retried this wine one a stand alone basis (with and without food) and the varietal shows a lot more! Yes, still a pinot noir like flavour-profile, with plenty of minerality; but also the sappy gamay fruit. This is seriously delicious gamay that reminds tasters that the concept of terroir can really define a wine. will probably last for at least 3 years.

  June 20, 2010 - Is this Gamay? That was my first reaction when taking the first whiff in a non-blind tasting. For me (and all the other tasters) this screamed pinot noir, and not a bad pinot noir. Quite interesting with broad fruit and reasonable length. I think this could hold for another 2 to 3 years. Bravo. Excellent quality/price

  March 4, 2009 - In the old days Gamay was very common, nowadays it is rare in Burgundy. That makes this wine from gamay grapes from a vinyard next to Clos Vougeot very special. It shows what good terroir can do with Gamay. Beaujolais like red fruit with Burgundy earthy tones, not complex, but very pleasurable. A little too short at the finish. Excelllent quality for price.
