December 13, 2018 - Started thin but the Wine changed over 30 min. Added body and fruit became more pronounced.

September 7, 2015 - A bit smoky fruit on nose and palate. A little bit past its prime. Medium bodied, medium finish. Drink now if you've got it.

August 15, 2013 - This wine has settled into a nice place. Drink over the next 3 years. Great with steak, was a little too big on its own before dinner. This is a modern style cali red with big fruit and spice. Well made wine, but not for the faint of heart...AM

January 7, 2013 - Quick TN: Popped and poured. Some black pepper on the nose, but it is not offputting, like with the last bottles of the 2006. I find these Outpost grenaches so different than any other California grenache, but not necessarily in a good way. There is a certain funkiness, in addition to the pepper, the belies the deep, dark cherry and I can't put my finger on it. It isn't bad, but it isn't great. I find that it detracts from the wine. There is some moderate tannin, but it is a fairly "smooth" wine. I've a few left from 2005-2007 and I'll let them sit to see what happens.

(Outpost Howell Mountain Grenache) #2; BLIND; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-medium/dark; NOSE-very pretty; black pepper is undeniable, then beautiful fresh strawberries; but little bit of strawberry fruit roll-up (fake) which makes me think Australia or Spain ; PALATE-big, bright, New World; a little heat coming through; big bright fruit; good tannins; tight; a little hollow in the mid-palate, but artificial (fake); POST REVEAL-just a little too New World for me; RP-90; GV-87
