  September 17, 2011 - I made the pasta dish on the cover of this month's Wine Enthusiast (great recipe BTW), and pulled the first Sicilian bottle I saw in the cellar. Decanted 2 hours this has equal parts of Nero, Cabernet, Syrah, and Merlot. This medium colored wine has a clear rim. Slightly stinky Syrah and savory Nero are up front in the nose with that "I'm Italian" set of savory aromatics. Richly textured black fruit, jam and savory herbs are full bodied and a touch warm. Worked well with the dish but I think I prefer their basic, indigenous varietal bottlings. Drink up.

  April 3, 2011 - Decanted 1 hour. Equal parts Nero d'Avola, Syrah, and Cab Sauv.. Quite darkly colored. Aromas of black plum compote, licorice and smoky herbs. Very ripe and sweetly fruited flavors are counter balanced by good fresh acidity. This took quite some time to come together. A fun and interesting dinner wine that should be decanted 4 hours before serving. Drink now - 2014.
