Community Tasting Notes 4

May 13, 2012 - A restrained nose of blackcurrant jam. In the mouth this was big on Stewed blackcurrant with plum, green pepper and pencil shavings - with a steely iron too. Quite a bit of oak, high tannins and a long dry finish of bitter chocolate. Pretty good, but a bit heavy going.

September 21, 2009 - Medium depth garnet. Typical merlot aromas of plums and herbs combined with rubbery/animal notes typical of South African wines. Mid-bodied and austere, very old-world in style, with subtle fruit, firm tannins and high acidity. Fairly long but rather flat aftertaste. Not special.

March 12, 2009 - Caroline's bash (Windsor): Tasted alongside the 2000. Unsurprisingly this is a younger version of its older brother. The younger more vigorous version was generally prefered by the tasters. **1/2
