  April 15, 2011 - Decanted ~1 hour, consumed over 2 hours. As usual with Tolo wines, more air time would certainly have helped.
  
  Concentrated cherries and some raw red meat on the nose. The cherries carry through on the palate, with a balsamic note and a hint of drying oak influence. It's integrated a little since last January, although the 15.8% alcohol still does come through and some harsh acids are even more distracting. There's good material in here, but the balance is off. Not fading in the slightest, so if you have one of these, you might want to put it away for a few years and see what happens.

  January 24, 2010 - Aerated in glass ~1 hour before drinking. No formal notes. Big. Fruit-forward nose of dried cherries, chocolate, fresh herbs, and a hint of cured meat. A little drier on the palette, with the fruit leaning more towards boysenberries (or blackberries) and some black pepper just at the finish. Would rate higher if the alcohol didn't poke through quite so much. Still nice with grilled steaks.

  May 10, 2009 - We had this wine with leftover lamb, marinated in a Mediterranean yogurt concoction from Bittman. Delicious, as was the Tolo Syrah. It was big, fruity and full of stone fruit, both on the nose and the palate. This is a good winery!
