April 5, 2011 - An Evening With The Wines of Jed Steele (Gervais & Vine, Columbia, SC): I liked this a lot better than the 2006. It seems riper and less vegetal. The color is almost black This is one of those wines with medium heavy toast oak that brings an almost chocolate flavor to the palate. We have Syrah, Merlot and Zinfandel bringing further complexity, with an almost heavy feel in the mouth. There is a distinct and welcome aroma and flavor of pencil shavings. The fruit is blackberry jam. The tannins taste smooth and roasted. It is relatively low in acid, very easy drinking. The alcohol is well integrated, almost in the background.

November 14, 2010 - A nose of spicy dark fruit, dark amber in color. A medium to full bodied red, blackberry, black cherry, a bit disjointed, nothing special.
