January 1, 2017 - Drinking well, still some rich fruits on palate with touch of oak. Nice finish.

April 1, 2011 - Velvety color. On the nose it is exactly like wild raspberries with Zabaglione. The taste is mild and nice, some tannins but really soft. More of the wild raspberries with vanilla, some nice acidity that really adds to the experience. Nice smooth finish. Really good wine that is ready now.

December 28, 2009 - Gibbston Valley Winery Visit (Gibbston Valley Winery, Central Otago, New Zealand): Dark just-transparent deep rose red. Classic Central Otago nose of cherries and rich violets. Very intense nose that reflects the extremely low yield that year (30% of normal). Has the fruitier, clay-based Bendingo grapes in the mix. as well as the lighter more minerally schist-based Gibbston Valley fruit. Palate is still very tannic and with very concentrated black cherry and some raspberries, dry boxwood on the back end. Needs time.

(Gibbston Valley Pinot Noir) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-bacon meets bubble gum; PALATE-getting a greenness; avocado skin; like an imaginary blend of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc from the Loire Valley because it has so much of a soil component; bacon; ripe sour cherry; it's very complex; green and earth to the nth degree; probably the most Burgundian styled Central Otago Pinot I've ever had; many won't like this, but this is right my ally; some bitter tannins; should cellar this for 3-7 years; GV-91+
