  April 9, 2022 - 12 years under screw cap and in perfect shape. It is one my preferred vintages of Roth Lay because of its acidity. It is still there, and the wine is really not much changed since its earliest days. It shows caramel richness, slight sweetness, intense minerality, some botrytis and kaleidoscopic aromas, including floral ones, and this great acidity. Great texture, so beautiful. Last bottle of a case bought at release. Holds even better than I thought, best on the second day where the acidity was wonderfully prominent, on both occasions drunk out of Zalto universal.

  October 22, 2021 - Heritage lunch at Maison Dakota. Aperitif. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Screw-cap.
  Appearance is clear, medium intensity, gold colour;. Legs.
  Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of petroleum, stony minerality, chrysanthemum, yellow pears, ripe tropical fruit, apricot, slight salinity. Developed.
  On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium+ almost full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of wet saline stones minerality, sweet cream, yellow cream peach, petroleum background, chrysanthemum, apricot. Medium+ going on long finish.
  
  Good quality. Rich GG that feels fuller than expected for Mosel. Good time to drink up already.

  March 27, 2020 - This is calmly beautifuland best on the second day. Over the two days it showed a lot of different aromas like slate, root licorice, floral Mosel fruit, botrytis and many other things. Rich, creamy and with an pleasant bitter edge, the acidity seems a lot lesspronounced than I recalled.A wonderful Roth Lay. Hope it is true that I have one more bottle, though it was difficult enough to find this one.

  July 1, 2018 - Completely consistent with my tasting note from April 2017; continues to fade gradually. Still a very good wine with lovely individuality, but it is not as exciting as it was 2-4 years ago. Even in a year like 2008, with its characteristically bright acidity, the aromas are quite mature, with lots of honey and spice but little or no fresh fruit; the wine making style here is clearly more about youthful exuberance than about subtle longevity. So be it - but be aware.

  May 5, 2018 - “Ten Years After” 2008 Dry Riesling Tasting (mostly Germany) (Private Location): For me by far the worst wine of the tasting and I was very surprised by Dirks score but sometimes opinion in wines differs and I think that is what makes wine such an interesting topic.
  Lots of overripe fruit (Botrytis), stinging nettles, camomile and tea notes mixed with a strange, unappealing “dirty” component. Very creamy, full but without any tension, acidity and precision on the palate. Absolutely not my cup of tea. Maybe better with more air.
