September 16, 2012 - On the one hand, bcc735's notes seem spot on to me -- on the other, it's living well above its pedigree. It's actually drinking pretty well right now -- much better than I remember it being 2 years ago (a whole lot less green than I remember it). Right off the bat the front-end flavors are nice: light cherry, with a hint of baking spices -- but the back side was tight, and dropped off fast. An hour in, though the wine's better integrated: the back end softens up. It was an accident that I cellared this, but I'm happy I did. (If anyone has any left, though, I doubt I'd wait much longer.)

October 31, 2010 - Drank at home for kelly's b day. Soft earthy woodsiness on the nose and a crystalline mineral expression. A spectrum of fruits. Rhubarb to dark cherry. Such soft texture. 12.5ABV. Lighter color and a sweet earthy wiod on the finish.

October 6, 2010 - Having it back to back with the 2007. Here more fleshed out, cherry and character. The palate seems to have more acidity here on this wine, the 2008 has more spice and pepper.

August 3, 2010 - 87 might be stretching it a bit. Am currently sipping it on day 2, 18 hours after opening...and its as expected (as described below), just not that good. I am a fan of austerity and elegance and this is a bit too green even for me. The wine tastes as if the grapes were ripe on the outside, but mal-nourished by lack of sun on the inside. The fruit that is there (and there certainly is not a ton) is more towards the dark end of things, there is a light cola, then celery, celery root thing that plays out on the mid-palate....finish is clean. And I don't care what anyone says, this nose, while interesting, is far from pretty. Lightweight is appropriate for mouthfeel...If you wanted a red wine to refresh you, this would be it.

If a wine bar served me a $5-6 glass, calling it a value pinot, I would applaud their taste and sense of adventure, but I would not praise the wine. Its that kind of bottle. If this bottle were not organic or bio-D, I'd feel duped.
