April 18, 2024 - I have no reference point for aged Burgundy so I don’t know how this compares to… well, any other aged Burgundy.
    Light garnet colour.
The nose is not very expressive at first. There are muted notes and maybe even something like nail polish remover. Then, it opens up and becomes more generous and complex. There are notes of blueberry, cranberry, redcurrant juice, and dried cranberry. There are slight citrus notes and of course, the promised forest floor, autumn leaves, a little mossy.
On the palate, it’s surprisingly grippy with high acidity and medium to even medium+ tannins. At first, it seems woody even though not cloyingly oaky. Later, however, there is more cranberry and red currant but also with forest floor and mushroom undertones. Black pepper and a little bit of clove.
The finish is nice but it’s mostly the lingering acidity and stewed fruit characteristic.
    9/18. Interesting. Fun birthday wine.

March 19, 2023 - 2002 Michel and Patrice Rion Chambolle Musigny Les Charmes

    Cellared 7 years since purchase
    Tasted March 15,2023
    40 minute decant

Reddish purple color in the glass with browning at the rim.
Aged burgundy nose of red fruit and sous bois.
Medium bodied with aged red fruit, predominantly sour cherry flavor. The wine featured good depth, soft tannins, good balance, and a 20+ second finish. There was wonderful and increasing complexity over three hours. It was the wine of this Chambolle tasting, (which included a 2010 Dujac Premier Cru CM) It illustrated why you buy and cellar good burgundy. A real treat from a very good producer.

    92 points.

April 2, 2017 - Took a little while to open up but was in a good place - silky dark red cherry with raspberry flecks, early sous bois and dark earth development which was more prominent on the broad / slightly muscular palate. ***1/2-****

May 5, 2014 - Very nice and elegant with something still left in reserve. I'd like to see this again in 2-4 years. Light-medium body, med acidity, and med+ fruit. Outstanding
