January 4, 2020 - I realize that this wine is two years post recommended consumption date, but I was looking for something to open while I organized my cellar a bit and added some bottles from a trip to Santa Barbara. I did not decant but the wine lingered in my glass at least an hour. Pours a beautiful ruby, no golden color at edges. Medium to light legs. An odd most floral nose and the taste...really just a bomb of tannins that, to me, hid any fruit trying to show itself. I stored with wine vac. Rather than dumping this I think I will decant for several hours later this week.

August 11, 2018 - Barnyard nose—and I think I’ve given this one enough air for sulfur to blow off. On the tongue, very mellow fruit—I do get cassis, plum, maybe blueberry. Herbal notes—anise and a suggestion of mint. Olive on the back of the palate. Nice supporting acid and BIG TIME Spring Mountain tannin. This is one seriously complex wine. I really like it. It is big and mouth-filling. However, I can see how it can be difficult for some. I do not think there is sufficient fruit to outlast the tannin if one wanted to give this wine more sideways storage.

September 20, 2016 - Very, very tight and hot upon open. Harsh, tanniny, difficult to drink. Day Two was smooth, pleasant and quite enjoyable. Maddeningly inconsistent product.

November 14, 2015 - Tannins hiding the fruit upon POP. Got better as the evening went on with nice chocolate tones developing but fruit still not fully integrated. Next day maybe a little better but overall not a good QPR. You can find better for the $$.
