  December 11, 2010 - There was dried wine atop the cork when I cut the foil. The cork was mostly covered with wine when I pulled it out. The wine itself was barely drinkable even after 30 minutes. It went down the drain. What's worse, I tried decanting it and in my effort to clean the decanter to get ready for the next bottle, the decanter broke. All in all, an extremely disappointing experience. This wine was shipped in May of this year, which wasn't that bad weather-wise on the east coast, but it must have been pretty hot somewhere along the way. This does not bode well for my other couple of bottles and is a big reason I now shy away from ground shipping in all but the early spring or late fall. Sattui seems particularly susceptible - I am starting to think their cork quality is not up to snuff.
